Printed Matter presented the fifth annual LA Art Book Fair, from February 23 – 26, 2017, at The Geffen Contemporary at MOCA.

                The opening night preview on Thursday, February 23, from 6 to 9 pm, at The Geffen Contemporary, included special musical performances by Seth Bogart and Kembra Pfahler & Christian Music from The Voluptuous Horror of Karen Black..

Free and open to the public, Printed Matter’s LA Art Book Fair is a unique event for artists’ books, art catalogs, monographs, periodicals, and zines presented by over 300 international presses, booksellers, antiquarians, artists, and independent publishers. Printed Matter’s LA Art Book Fair 2017 saw over 38,000 visitors over the course of three and a half days.


Printed Matter’s LA ART BOOK FAIR is the companion fair to Printed Matter’s NY ART BOOK FAIR, held every fall in New York. In September 2016, over 39,000 artists, book buyers, collectors, dealers, curators, independent publishers, and enthusiasts attended Printed Matter’s NY ART BOOK FAIR.

The fifth annual LA Contemporary Artists’ Books Conference featured a keynote address by AA BRONSON, titled MY LIFE IN BOOKS.

Fundraising Editions

                Printed Matter is pleased to present three new Fundraising Editions to benefit the LA Art Book Fair, by Ricky Swallow in collaboration with Peter Shire, Ruth van Beek, and Mike Mills in collaboration with Experimental Jetset.
